From Stage To Screen

My bed is beginning to take on idol status in my life, as I have been seeing it so little lately. I don't think I have gotten more than 6 hours ofsleep in the past six days, and last night rehearsal lasted past midnight... We could've used a couple more hours, too. We're still having issues with adjusting to the very limited space on the stage and a huge cast. Several people, including leads, are still shaky on some of their lines. And I am likely to strangle a child or two before the end of the run if they don't learn to keep quiet backstage. Oy. Still, we are making progress, and I can hope that the scenes that are put together and polished will compensate for those that are clumsy, halting, and generally painful to watch.

I have to say that I lucked out in the costume department. My main costum is cute, even if it does look a little like I am Bo Peep looking for my flock. :) My other costume, for the fancy ball scene, is really fun. It has a train with a wrist loop to keep it out of the way for dancing. I do have to wear a huge feathered headpiece, but mine is less showgirl-ish than anyone else's. I'll try to get pictures tonight. Then you can also judge for yourself how I look with ringlets. H, M, and B were rather skeptical (I had to curl my hair before I left work last night, since I was already going to be late), but I think that's just because it's so different from how they are used to seeing me. Plus, the 'do makes much more sense with the costumes than modern clothes. :)

Random aside: B shocked me yesterday by saying Santa isn't real! The girls still have no doubt whatsoever, and I wasn't expecting the youngest to break the news. Luckily, I went the cautious route, because he was apparently just testing the waters. A friend at school told him Santa isn't real, I guess, but when I asked who else could bring all those presents on Christmas Eve and who eats the cookies they leave out every year, he seemed relieved to decide that it must be Santa Claus. I got to help him keep that sweet childhood myth, and I didn't even have to lie to do it. Score one for me!

So you can have a respite from the Meet Me In St Louis saga, I stole this movie thing from bafleyanne's second journal. The lists are from the IMDB, and the bold items are the films I have seen.
