Quiet Time

It's amazing how different the dynamics in the house can be with only two kids around instead of three. H is away on a trip with all the fourth graders at her school up in NH. This is a big deal for her, since she's only been on a couple of overnights, and she's never been away from home for more than one night. I think she was ready for it. I suspect when she gets back she'll say she hardly felt homesick at all. After all, she's with people she knows really well.

The house is definitely different without her around, though. H is not, in general, a loud kid, but it's quieter. I think that's because H and B don't get along well all the time, so with one of them out of the equation conflicts are less frequent. H can be quite bossy and is easily annoyed, and B does antagonize her. B and M get along much better, so the house has been pretty harmonious. I do miss H, though. Her sense of humor often gets all of us laughing, and I can't wait to hear about all the fun she's had this week.
