Friday Five: What's In a Name?

1. Is the name you have now the same name that's on your birth certificate? If not, what's changed?

Yep, Kristen Nicole Bruneau, though these days almost no one calls me Kristen.

2. If you could change your name (first, middle and/or last), what would it be?

I think I would change my last name first. It is difficult for people to pronounce and spell, which drives me crazy. Kristen is okay, but too formal for my personality, while Kris is too common - I am constantly turning around when people call my name only to discover they were speaking to someone else. I like Nicole, though, and have always sort of wished that were my first name.

3. Why were you named what you were? (Is there a story behind it? Who specifically was responsible for naming you?)

My name was a compromise between my parents. Mom wanted to name me Danielle or Nicole, both of which my dad nixed for some reason. Kristen is my godmother's name, and was the first name they could agree on. My godmother went by Kristi, and that is what I was called for years as well.

4. Are there any names you really hate or love? What are they and why?

I am not too fond of the androgynous names like Morgan and Hunter. I tend to dislike super trendy names and inventive spellings (probably because I have had to live with a name that is not easy to spell). My favorite names are not too common, but still simple to pronounce and spell, like Emma, Will, Grace, etc.

5. Is the analysis of your name at kabalarians.com accurate? How or how isn't it?

As Kristen you seek change, travel, new opportunities, and new challenges. Your active, restless nature demands action and you dislike system and monotony. As you are versatile and capable, you could do any job well, although you would not like to do menial tasks. Having considerable vision, you could be adept at formulating new, more effective ways of doing things. You could organize the work of others, though in your impatience to see the job done efficiently, you would likely step right in and do it yourself. You could work well in sales and promotion, and would not be afraid to risk a gamble as the name gives you much self-confidence. You do not find contentment in the routine tasks and responsibilities that are associated with home and family or with administrative detail in the business world, so you have to guard against frustration and even moods of depression over your personal responsibilities. The restlessness this name creates could find an outlet in caustic, irritable expression.

Hmmm. The first half seems very accurate. However, I don't think I would do well in sales! I love the part about managing people but ending up doing things myself! That is definitely right on! :) That's why I used to drive the other teachers I worked with absolutely crazy!

today's project: relaxing after a LOOONG week.

musing about: my birthday, since I just emailed invites to the photo scavenger hunt I am planning.
